Critique of Star Wars opening scene

        I think that this scene is extremely well done. It utilizes various listening modes such as a casual mode when it is a person or robot of course talking in the scene because that is in actuality their voice; but it also uses the referential mode of listening for noises that are more abstract or based on fiction such as the laser noises or the small robot's (R2D2's) robot dialect. The scene also shows the directors mastery for use of space. When the protagonist soldiers are being attacked by the enemy storm troopers in white the camera angle is low to show that they are outnumbered and also obvious is the comparative size of their ship to the enemy ship. There is also distance between them at first but the larger ship catches up to the smaller and takes it into to its control.

It is about a master of origami named Daishinji and her beautiful paper creations, and one which is so glorious that it comes to life. The gorgeous origami fish she created said that it was lonely and so Daishinji creates an entire world out of origami for it. But this is not enough for the paper fish. It begs so much to be set free into the real world but Daishinji is convinced that it would be destroyed if she did let it go saying that "imaginary things must stay in imaginary places." In the end she lets it go and to her surprise it becomes real and does not get destroyed. This story illustrates the point that what's created on paper, if authentic enough, can never just stay on paper -- it has to go out and be tested in the real world.

      Here's something that I found that inspires me as much as that story did: "All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible."  --T.E.       To me this means that if you only think about your goals and hopes and dreams and never act on them then you will never achieve them. They will simply be dreams. That is why this quote inspires me as a creative person.
